The MEI’s student activities are designed to awaken and deepen interest in using the economic approach in the analysis of public policy.
The Birks Family Foundation Internship Program
This internship program provides a unique and inspiring full-time internship opportunity at the MEI for a duration of 14 weeks during the summer. The internship is open to students in the field of economics, as well as political science, law and other social sciences. Only one internship is available per summer.

“Ronald Monet” Internship Grant
The “Ronald Monet” grant aims to offer opportunities to a young intern or to a recent graduate wanting to work in a unique and rewarding environment. The intern’s work will help the MEI spread a better understanding of wealth-creating public policy ideas for Quebec and Canada. Ronald Monet passed away in 2016. He served on two separate occasions as a member of the MEI’s Board of Directors, and also sat on its Board of Governors. He was a loyal friend and supporter of the MEI from the very start.

Free admission to MEI conferences
We encourage students’ participation by offering free admission to our conferences. The Activities section of this website provides all the details about our upcoming events as well as summaries or transcripts of past activities. Since the number of free seats is limited, reservation is required. Institute for Liberal Studies
The Institute for Liberal Studies is a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to promoting discussions of classical liberal thought in areas such as economics, philosophy, history and public policy. It offers educational seminars in order to foster discussion about ideas and public policies in a non-partisan environment.
The MEI encourages Canadian students to participate in these seminars by offering two up-to $300 travel grants to cover part of the cost involved in getting to and back from the seminar where the student has been admitted. The contributions will be attributed on a “first come, first served” basis. To take advantage of this opportunity, please first contact the ILS and follow their normal registration procedure. Institute for Humane Studies
The Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) offers free seminars to students from around the world. These one-week seminars take place on various university campuses in the U. S. They are particularly interesting for students interested in the idea of liberty and in discussing social and political issues.
